Mogadishu (GarsoorNews) — At least two people have been killed on Monday in roadside bomb explosion near Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, witness said.
The blast hit armored vehicle carrying government soldiers traveling at Elasha area, just about 15Km south of the capital, a witness said.
He says the explosion killed two civilians, who were nearby the scene of the bomb blast, adding that none of the soldiers was injured.
“It was an IED explosion which was aimed at targeting military vehicle, but it killed two civilians crossing on the road”, he said.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the explosion, but such attacks were carried by the armed group of Al Shabaab.
Al-Shabab once controlled much of Somalia but in 2011 it was driven out of the capital Mogadishu and has since lost most other former strongholds.
But its fighters remain a formidable threat and constantly carry out bombings against both military and civilian targets in Mogadishu and elsewhere.
