Somali government forces shoot at close range to execute two former soldiers in the capital Mogadishu.

MOGADISHU (Garsoornews)–Somalia has on Thursday executed three of its soldiers in Mogadishu after a military Court earlier sentenced them to death for killing fellow army officers and civilians.

The trio whose names were not made public faced a firing squad at General Kahiye Police Training Academy in the capital Mogadishu early on Thursday morning.

Among those executed are senior official who allegedly shot dead a constable in Mogadishu’s Wadajir district.

The other two were reportedly found guilty of killing internally displaced person near the Sayidka on an undisclosed period.
Several high ranking military and police officials as well as members of the public attended the execution event.

Somalia has in the recent past executed several of its soldiers after they were sentenced to death by the Military Court for committing murder and robbery with violence.

In mid January, two government soldiers were executed in Mogadishu after a military Court last year condemned them to death for murder and rape.

The two, Jamal Ahmed Abdikadir and Abdi Osman Ali faced a firing squad at Police Training Academy ground in the capital Mogadishu in front of several high ranking military and police officials including Somali police commissioner Gen. Sharif Shekuna Maye.

Abdikadir was reportedly found guilty of killing a civilian in Mogadishu while his co-accused Osman was found guilty of raping a girl.

The latest incident comes two weeks after a military court in Beledweyne has sentenced four people including soldiers and an Al-Shabaab militant fighter to death.

Nine others were sentenced to between six months and 25 years in jail while the sentencing of six others was delayed since their victims were said to recuperating in a hospital in the area.
