Somalia, AU forces’ base hit by Al Shabaab attack

QORYOLEY (Garsoor Online) — Heavily armed Al Shabaab fighters launched an attack on army bases manned by Somali troops backed by African Union (AMISOM) forces in Qoryoley town.

The armed militants also clashed with the coalition forces in the town for hours, according to police chief in Qoryoley, Abdi Waal.

Waal says a little boy had been injured in the clash, adding that he had been airlifted by AMISOM to Mogadishu for treatment.

Several government soldiers and AMISOM peacekeepers were feared killed in the attack  by Al Shabaab.

The coalition officials were unavailable to reach on the phone for comments on the assault.
