Somalia: Media worker wounded in Mogadishu gunfire

MOGADISHU (Garsoor Online) – Radio Shabelle journalist, Mahad Mohamed and 2 others wounded when government troops have exchanged heavy gunfire near Tarbunka junction in Mogadishu.

The clash has erupted after heavily armed military soldiers battled with another troops over demolishing displaced camps near the junction, Hussein, a witness tells Garsoor Online.

He says journalist Mohamed was recording voice clips at the scene before the clash started, adding he fell down on the ground.

The victim has been taken to Fiqi hospital near the scene where gunfire flared up and then transferred to Madina hospital for medical treatment.

“He is now in good health. He was hit on back and left hand”, Hussein said.

The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) has wished him to get well soon.
