Somalia: Five men kidnapped in north of Mogadishu

MOGADISHU (Garsoor Online) – Heavily armed gunmen have kidnapped five elders, some elderly near Jowhar town, lies about 91Km north of Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.

The assailants also burned several bushes and tea shops before they carried out the abduction in in Galefta area near the town, a witness, who asked to be anonymous, tells Garsoor Online.

It remains unknown where the abductees have been taken by gunmen.

Garsoor Online obtained some reports suggesting that armed group of Al Shabaab fighters carried out the abduction after elders refused to pay Zakawad collection.

Jowhar, the provincial capital of Middle Shabelle region is under control of Hirshabelle State troops backed by African Union peacekeepers.

No group has claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s abduction in north of Mogadishu.
