MANDERA (Garsoor Online) – Heavily armed group of Al Shabaab militants launched an attack on police station in Mandera town in northeast of Kenya, witness and police said.
The attack happened on Thursday 1.25am in Arabia area.
Several police soldiers feared dead in the attack on the police station, sources said.
In an interview with Daily Nation, Kenyan officer, Eric Oronyi said the suspected militants of Al Shabaab also destroyed a Safaricom mast in Khoror Farar.
The mobile phone communication has been cut off in the area shortly after the attack being carried out.
He declines to comment on the exact number casualties resulted from the ambush attack.
Dozens of Kenyan Defense Forces in Mandera town have reportedly been deployed to the area, in a bid to boost the overall security and ward off further Al Shabaab raids.
The armed group also carried out similar attacks that killed dozens of Kenyans and police officers in Mandera town.
