MOGADISHU (Garsoor Online) – Somalia’s parliament has approved the newly appointed cabinet nominated by Prime Minister Hassan Khaire by an overwhelming majority with 224 votes in favor and 15 opposed.
The country’s first deputy speaker of the parliament, Abduweli Sheikh Ibrahim declared the official results and called on the ministers to swear their oaths of office.
Somalian MP and Former Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of Somalia, Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir, has confirmed his support for the Council of Ministers approved by country’s parliament.
“I welcome the Prime Minister’s nomination and the Parliament’s approval of the new cabinet of Ministers those will tackle challenges facing the country”, Hon. Farah said.
He added:“I am delighted that despite some significant difficulties over the past week, overall momentum has not been lost, and that government activities have continued”.
The approval the new cabinet comes amid millions of Somalia people suffering from severe drought and mass malnutrition.
